MY OBSOLETE TERRACE HOUSE

A good read, so offer up your comments!

Dear colleagues
As a follow up to my book on housing market renewal (which provides a critique of the programme to demolish terrace housing in Liverpool so that lots of working class people can make way for an army of gentrifiers that will save the city from itself) I have moved to a terrace house in Liverpool.  My terrace house is exactly the type that has been denigrated by Liverpool city council and its 'academic' partners; it is 'obsolete' and 'unsuitable for modern living'.  I am now publishing a blog about everyday life in my terrace house which will discuss my primary experiece of terrace living.  I will contrast my experience with the assumptions that are imposed on the experience of terrace living by over-privileged, middle class observers that think working class people - and culture - are problems that need to be dealt with.  And that terrace houses occupied by working class people should be knocked down and replaced by 'exciting' dwellings that the middle class will 'aspire' to have.  The blog site is here, please circulate it to anyone that is interested.  Thank you.

Regards
Chris
