12) Residents in Richard Cooper Street - 1901

Residents still living in the street after 10 years were:

DIXIE (NO.2), CROUDSON (NO 12), R.A. DEPLEDGE (NO. 16), ARNOLD (NO.28), MIDDLEBROOK (NO.38 - self-employed as Grocer at the Shop, probably run by his wife before Mr. Middlebrook retired from the Alum Works), MORLEY (NO.7), SMITH (N0.9), HUSON (NO.23), HUNTINGTON (NO.29), OSBORNE (NO.31), STEELE (NO.33), WORMALD (NO.37).

Elizabeth JEPSON and her nine children moved from NO.30 to NO.34.

Three new houses were occupied:

NO.1 - Mariner Robert ALCOCK (from 32 Phoenix Street), NO.3 - Luke CRAVEN, Clerk (from 14 Phoenix Street), and NO.5 - occupant was William TYLER a Bricklayer, and his family.

Also moving (to NO.6 - four AARON children (with maternal relatives Joseph and Ethel Hunt) - previously at 5 Phoenix Street, and at NO.15 (from 21 Phoenix Street)- Engine Fitter BLAKEY.

Other new residents were:

But Linda Rockett mentions that Samuel John ROCKETT (Ship's Mechanical Engineer) & wife Flora (nee Backhouse) moved here from 32 Pasture Lane.  They had Sylvia, Doris, Florence, Samuel, Roland, Stuart & Phyllis - whose baptism in 1908 provided this address.  Samuel may have died at sea in 1918, aboard the vessel Harpathian.
